Most older aircraft panels simply need to be upgraded. GPS, TCAS, TAWS (mandatory effective March 29, 2005 on all turbine aircraft with six or more passenger seats excluding pilot seats), GPWS, RVSM (Required on all aircraft flying above FL290 to FL410 mandatory January 20, 2005), and weather avoidance systems have all come a long way in the past few years.
